In exactly two weeks I will get on a plane to New York. I'll stay at a campus with fellow exchange students. And after 10 days, on the 11th of August, I will, FINALLY, fly to the state where I'll be living for a year: California!
The Golden State
I have a welcome family in Thousand Oaks, a city 1 hour from Los Angeles. A welcome family is a family that takes you in temporarily if you don't have a permanent host family yet. So that means I'll be staying with my welcome family until EF finds a family that can host me the rest of the year.
I also have a double placement from Germany. I'm not sure if we will stay at the same host family too, but in the beginning of my exchange year I will have a German sister :).
Our welcome family will pick us up at the airport in California and I really can't wait to meet them!
HIGH SCHOOL

Thousand Oaks High School.. Yep, that is THE high school where I'll be sitting in classrooms 5 days a week, play sports and most importantly: make new friends! I am soooo happy that I'll be going to this high school, because this school has more than 2500 students, so I will totally experience the high school spirit (well I hope so), and there are so many sports I can play. I will be a junior, so that means that I'm in 11th grade!
Love,
Amy
